The work here will consist almost exclusively of wallpaper I've created from different fractal programs.
While I love some of what I see people do with UltraFractal, you won't see very much of it here. A large chunk of the UltraFractal work I see is too controlled and rigid for me. Part of why I feel that way is I've simply gotten tired of anything Mandelbrot (and it's related fractal friend Julia) a very long time ago.
Rather, I prefer to work with the IFS flame type fractals. This means that I use Apophysis and the GIMP for most of what I do.
The other thing to realise when you look at what I do, is that I'm gearing all my work specifically to computer wallpaper. This means that I make certain design choices based upon a relatively constrained format. This despite what I said about UltraFractal.
I am playing with some other fractal software. And I may include some of those results in the future.
IMPORTANT! Do read the commentary which goes with each piece. The commentary is appropriate to the images. I don't put up anything which doesn't have a little bit of "story" to go with it. In other words, there's nothing here which is up simply because "Oh, I don't know what it is but it looks nice." I do try to tie your imagination to a specific idea or concept with each piece.
My gallery will contain all unique wallpapers (png format) of a single size at 1920x1200 pixels. I'll be loading different sizes of these wallpapers in scraps (jpeg format).
I can't stress enough the importance of picking the best size and resolution for you. These rendors are maximal screen resolutions at a very high sampling rate. The best effect will always be at the size and resolution for your screen. Most of the images, if you've picked the right size for you, should make your computer screen stop people in their tracks.
Basically, the gallery images will be the "hi quality" png format while the scraps images will be ready to go jpeg format images at a variety of standard screen sizes. The screen sizes included are indicated in the respective scrapbook comments. Generally, there will be 2560, 1920 and 1600 pixel wide resolutions. These are directly proportional to nearly all standard screens. i.e. Use 1600 for 1024x768 screens. Use 2560 for 1280x1024 screens. Use 1920 for 1280x900 (or 1280x960) screens.
I used 7z (7-Zip) format because of it's significantly higher compression capabilities. Under windows, I generally prefer TugZip as the better unzipper. You can get it here: [link]
